Tevez reveals 'personal crisis' with weight and depression

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has revealed he battled depression and problems with his weight this summer as well as speculation over his future.

The Argentine says he checked into a clinic and his problems undermined his fitness for Copa America, but he refuses to accept responsibility for the national team’s failure.

Tevez had sought to leave City after claiming that he needed to be closer to his family in Argentina, but saw a move to Brazilian club Corinthians collapse while no other clubs came close to meeting City's asking price.

The forward is now set to stay in Manchester until at least January, and the Argentine is adamant he has been unfairly misrepresented by the media in the light of his personal struggles.

"I'm not the s*** that they say I am. I had a personal crisis this summer," he told People.

"I put on five or six kilos and had to check myself into a clinic. I was depressed and so I ate and ate. Only my family and my friends know this."
