Pirates won’t win it three times - Hunt
SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has boldly stated that it will be difficult, if not impossible, for defending league champions Orlando Pirates to win the league three times in succession.
Hunt became the first South African coach to win the league title three times in a row with SuperSport United between the 2007/2008 and 2009/2010 seasons. Hunt angrily lashed out at the local public for not acknowledging the feat achieved by his team, further stating that Pirates will not be able to match that success.
The 2010/2011season proved a daunting one. The wheels came off as United struggled to maintain their reputation. Hunt almost left the club at the beginning of the current season.
The wheels appear to be back on for United, who recently struggled to hold down a place in the top eight, and Hunt believes things are falling into place now.
Discussing why he almost left the club last season, he said, “I always tell my players that if you lose your motivation to win matches or five-a-side sessions at training then you must move out. We have to maintain high standards in our club.”
