United 'Never Wanted' Sneijder

Alex Ferguson has denied that Manchester United were chasing Wesley Sneijder during the recent transfer window.
It was rumoured all transfer season long that United would sign the Dutch international as a direct replacement for club legend Paul Scholes.
But Fergie has revealed that he never thought Sneijder was the right player to fill Scholes' boots. Only Barcelona's peerless playmakers would be adequate replacements for the recently retired ginger ninja, the United gaffer says.
"Sneijder is not the ideal replacement for Scholes," Fergie said.
"He's a fantastic player but he was not who we were looking for to replace Scholes. Only Xavi and Iniesta are comparable to Scholes."
