RVP is KING Arsenal.

Arsène Wenger had a simple answer on Friday when it was put to him that Dennis Bergkamp, no less, believed that Robin van Persie was being made to play out of position as Arsenal’s lone central striker.
“In this position he has scored 26 goals in 32 games so you cannot say he is in a bad position because the numbers go against you,” said Wenger.
That retort can now be revised to 28 in 33 games after Van Persie scored twice against Sunderland this afternoon to secure only a third Premier League victory of the season for Arsenal and, more importantly, their ascent back into the top-half of the table.
Van Persie had earlier used his column in the matchday programme to outline his commitment to Arsenal (although any reference to whether he would sign a new contract was absent), and certainly began as if he intended to back up his words with deeds.
Not since Geovanni for Manchester City against Wigan Athletic in 2007 had a player scored within 30 seconds of the start of a Premier League match, but that sequence was dramatically ended by a combination of Van Persie brilliance and Sunderland negligence.
