The warning Fernando Torres received from Vicente del Bosque has been repeated by his club boss, Andre Villas-Boas, ramping up the pressure on El Nino to find the back of the net.
One goal, fortuitously scored in a puddle last season, and a decent game against Stoke are all Torres has to his credit since joining Chelsea from Liverpool.
He does not seem to be the goalscorer he once was, with many pundits believing injuries have robbed him of the turn of pace which made him such a handful.
And Villas-Boas says he will not keep picking Torres like his predecessor Carlo Ancelotti did, unless the striker pays his way with goals.
"It can never compromise the objectives of the team and the things you want to achieve," Villas-Boas said of Torres' place in his starting line-up.
"It's not just about scoring goals, it's about creating opportunities and he's been doing that. The moment when it compromises the running of the team I think it has to come to an end."
