Maritzburg United's unbeaten run was brought to a decisive end on Friday night, by seven goals from SuperSport United.
SuperSport United are now the only team left unbeaten in the League this season, and are top of the log on 18 points. They will remain top regardless of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns' result tomorrow.
SuperSport have also not lost to Maritzburg since their first meeting in 2005/06.
Matsatsantsa's goals were scored by Atusaye Nyondo, Byron Hendricks own-goal, Tebogo Langerman (brace), Jabulani Maluleke (brace) and Ashley Hartog.
Nyondo took his tally for the season to five, to become joint top-scorer with Katlego Mphela, slamming home in the 10th minute.
An Anthony Laffor cross resulted in Hendricks' own-goal on 27 minutes.
Midfielder Tebogo Langerman completed the third in a clinical first-half display after good work from Nyondo in the 43rd minute, to take a 3-0 half-time lead.
Botswana international Gabonamong went on to net the fourth for the Tshwane side in the 71st minute.
A late brace from pacy substitute midfielder Jabu Maluleke in the 76th and 81st minutes, and a 86th-minute goal from Ashley Hartog ensured the emphatic result.
Maritzburg were not given time to settle, as SuperSport's offensive trio of Nyondo, Laffor and Hartog put coach Ian Palmer's charges on the back foot.
Outside of Hendricks' header that came off the post midway, SuperSport's young goalkeeper Ronwen Williams went untested in the first-half as Shu-Aib Walters' goal was continuously under threat.
