Alan Pardew now knows for sure what he probably already suspected about this Newcastle United side. Not good enough to beat the best, perhaps, but strong enough to hold their own against anyone.
A draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur is not an earth-shattering result, but in coming from behind twice against a side which holds realistic
Champions League aspirations, the Magpies have shown they have the quality to maintain an impressive start to the campaign.
The draw stretches their unbeaten run to ten games and keeps them fourth in the table. They are unlikely to stay there.
As the drama unfolds, injuries and suspensions should expose their lack of depth in key positions, but it must be pointed out it was Spurs who were holding on for the draw at the end.
