At the 1am meeting, at the home of the Manchester City manager, it is understood that Mancini told Tévez he would be allowed to train with the first team if he met a number of conditions.
Tévez had earlier been informed that he had a case to answer over an alleged breach of contract after Mancini accused him of refusing to play against Bayern Munich in last month's Champions League match, which City lost 2-0.
Talks had taken place before City's announcement and it is believed that the parties may have come close to agreeing a form of words to end proceedings. Frustratingly, however, no agreement was forthcoming and the two sides remained at loggerheads.
Tévez was in London on Wednesday, after flying back from Argentina, and about to catch a train back to Manchester when he was called by Mancini. On arriving at Manchester Piccadilly station, he went to the Italian's Cheshire home.
There Tévez is believed to have been told by Mancini that if he shook hands and apologised to him, personally and publicly, and then did the same with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, he would be allowed to train with the squad on Thursday.
