Chiefs former HIT-man for Bundesliga debut

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona finally made his Bundesliga debut at the weekend when coming on as a second-half substitute in his club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s win over VfL Wolfsburg.

Since completing his move to the Germany club at the end of July, Musona had not played in the first League games due to a groin injury picked up at training two weeks into his arrival.

But then, after his recovery, the Zimbabwean was an unused substitute in last week’s 4-0 drubbing of Mainz 05.

However, this past weekend with Hoffenheim leading 2-0 following goals by Ryan Babel and Roberto Firmino, Musona was brought in to replace Iceland striker Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson after 63 minutes.

Though Wolfsburg reduced the score four minutes after Musona’s introduction, the 21 year-old went on to set up a third goal for his club that was scored by Firmino five minutes from the end.

Musona released Firmino on the run for the Brazilian to complete his brace. Actually Musona could have made an immediate impact just after he came on when his attempt from 25 meters out went just over the bar.

Hoffenheim have had a positive start to the season which sees them in fourth after six games just three points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

The reigning PSL top scorer is now hoping for more game time and a possible start when Hoffenheim travel to FC Cologne on Sunday.
