Orlando Pirates have been drawn away to Lamontville Golden Arrows in the semifinals of the 2011 Telkom Knockout as they seek to win the competition for the first time in their history.The second semifinal will see Santos travel to BidVest Wits, but all eyes are sure to be on Durban as The Buccaneers battle Abafana Bes’thende.
The exact dates and venues for the two fixtures will be announced later this week when the PSL cup committee meets, but the matches will be played on the weekend of November 26/27.
Pirates and Golden Arrows have only ever met once in the Telkom Knockout, when Bucs triumphed 1-0 last season on their way to the final, where they eventually lost 3-0 to Kaizer Chiefs.
It was Pirates’ sixth final defeat in the 29-year history of the competition and they will be hoping to go one better this time round.
The match will also see Pirates centre-back Siyabonga Sangweni play against the side he left for Mayfair at the start of this season, while Golden Arrows’ Katlego Mashego will have a point to prove against his former team too.
