Barcelona won't pay over the odds for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale

Reports in Spain this week suggested that the current European Champions were considering a move for the Wales midfielder.
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell was unwilling to confirm that was the case, though tellingly made the point that the Catalans would not break the bank to sign a player manager Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of.
Bale's versatility down the left side makes him an enticing prospect ever since he served notice of his ability in Tottenham's exhilarating Champions League run last season.
Having succeeded in keeping Luka Modric out of Chelsea's clutches last summer Harry Redknapp would fight to retain Bale. However, were a club to meet Tottenham Hotspur's valuation of £50m it would be difficult to resist.
Rosell, however, warned that the Spanish side would be unwilling to meet such a valuation.
"I do not know if Bale interests us," Rosell told Al Jazeera.
"If I did, I would not say, because his price would go up. [Tottenham] would not ask for €40 million [£33.2m], but €50m [£42.8m].
"In any case, even if we wanted him, we would never pay €40m for him."
Bale signed from Southampton back in 2007 for £7m and is under contract until 2015.
