Chiefs firing blanks...

Kaizer Chiefs were unable to make the most of SuperSport United's slip when they were held to a goalless draw by Santos at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.
Siphiwe Tshabalala enjoyed two chances in the first few minutes of the game but his first, inside 30 seconds, was brilliantly kept out by the diving Tshepo Motsoeneng. The Bafana Bafana midfielder then sent another fierce drive just wide of the target.
The match became a little bogged down in midfield after that but Santos slowly grew in confidence and caused the Amakhosi some trouble toward the end of the half.
Eleazar Rodgers had arguably the best chance of the half when he was picked out in the centre of the area but he sent his header just wide of the target.
Graham King then went inches wide moments later as the match went into the break locked at 0-0.
Tshabalala continued to be frustrated after the break and he failed to hit the target from close range early on before King sent an effort wide from outside the area at the other end.
Chances continued for both sides with Rodgers nodding another decent opportunity wayward while Tyrene Arendse forced Arthur Bartman into a save with five minutes to go.
Chiefs pressed forward in the dying minutes and Tshabalala was again denied by the goalkeeper in stoppage time as it proved to be a night where neither side would find their finishing touch.
