Ferguson's the best in the business
Guardiola said the dominance of his all-conquering Catalans should not detract from Ferguson's trophy-laden reign at United.
"I cannot be compared with Ferguson," Guardiola told reporters ahead of Barcelona's friendly against Hajduk Split in Croatia on Saturday.
"The fact Manchester United lost a Champions League match doesn't mean I am a better coach than he is.
"I still have a lot to do just to attempt to be compared to him. The kind of prestige he has isn't lost for losing a match in the Champions League," added the Spaniard.
"When a person is working for more than 25 years and winning and winning and winning so many times, if there is one person I think is number one it is Alex Ferguson."

Herry on Pirates
Redknapp, however, had no problem with it, responding to KickOff.com’s question by saying: “I don’t think it was disrespectful. I thought they kept the ball very well and played very well.
“Look, there was a bit of showboating towards the end, but if their coach is not unhappy with it then there is no problem. They should be very proud of the way they played against a Premiership team.”
Redknapp was suitably impressed with Pirates’ overall performance, saying: “They have lots of good players. They are good on the ball and very inventive around the box. I was very, very impressed and, to be fair, they looked more likely to win.”

Spurs goalkeeper Brad Friedel says Khune's distribution must be commended.
"Well, I watched him in the World Cup and now we have just played against him and he made two fantastic saves on Saturday and the thing that stands out from him in every game is his distribution. It is outstanding for such a young goalkeeper and at 24, he is still very young for a goalkeeper and as long as he keeps working hard he can only get better and better," Friedel tells KickOff.com.

Mphela jets off to Scotland
Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela will leave for Scotland on Saturday for trials with Glasgow Celtic after receiving club boss Patrice Motsepe's blessing to go today.
Mphela met with Motsepe today to discuss his future with Sundowns and the possibility of playing in Europe this season.
As reported by KickOff.com this morning, the Glasgow club invited Mphela for trials, and we have been reliably informed that Sundowns would be willing to accept R17-million for him.
"I am not part of the team that went to Swaziland yesterday," 'Killer' tells KickOff.com. "I was waiting for the call from the president to meet today and discuss my future.
"Our meeting went very well and he gave me his blessing to attend the trials in Europe.
It's not a normal situation at Sundowns for players to be allowed to go for trials, but the club made an exception for me. I will be leaving for Scotland on Saturday and will return next week Friday."
Mphela declares himself ready and prepared to win a contract with the Scottish giants.
"My intention is to go and do very well," he says. "I am confident in my abilities and believe I will do well enough to win a contract with Celtic."
